Last November 10, Ateneo de Manila, De La Salle Zobel, and International School Manila achieved victories against their respective opponents: La Salle Greenhills, British School Manila, and PAREF Schools. HomeSchool Global and Villaroman Golf Academy ended their match in a 2-2 tie during the Play Golf Interschool Match Play Series, held at the North Course of Valley Golf and Country Club.
Ateneo de Manila fielded Juanton Cruz and EC Aguirre for the Alternate format, but they were the only Ateneo duo to lose, falling to La Salle Greenhills’ Monte Andaman and Lauro Delen 1 up. Aenzo Sulaik and Andrei Cruz secured a win in the Best Ball format against Sebastian Saycon and Sebastian Darjuan, finishing 2 up. Sulaik’s performance included one eagle and a hole-in-one to contribute to Ateneo’s victory. Javie Bautista and Lujo Gomez dominated Asher Abad and Marcus Abalos with a 10&8 win in the aggregate format, while the High-Low tandem of Xandrei David and Milo Pastor defeated Jaikod Catabay and Victor Villavicencio 6&5.
For De La Salle Zobel, juniors Georgina Handog and CC Gonzales triumphed over Scott Ng and Manolo Reyes 6&4. Santino Magtalas and Joe Cortez won their High-Low match against Rodrigo Lim and Secily Sy. Rafa Leonio, competing in the Best Ball format, managed a score of 5 under to square his match against Armand Copok and Annika Raquel Santos. Cousins Reese and Kyle Ng were the only match winners for British School Manila in the aggregate format, defeating Gab Pecjo and Troy Nagata 4&3.
International School Manila also secured a 3-1 victory over PAREF Schools. ISM’s Best Ball duo, Rudy Singh and Casey Frankum, won their match 5&4 against Nathan Yeung, the lone Best Ball player for PAREF. Sofi Go and Chris Yu claimed their High-Low match 3&2 against Makayla Verano and Rosie Reyes. Felice Tambunting and Shantelle Laurel excelled for PAREF, winning their alternate match 4&3 against Johnny Yang and Gavin Go. Kai Lacson and Aidan Garcia won their match by default.
HomeSchool Global and Villaroman Golf Academy ended their match in a 2-2 draw. VGA’s Essa Janecek and Lucas Garcia won the Alternate match decisively at 7&6. Zach Villaroman and Joseph Bernos defeated their opponents in the Best Ball match, finishing 5&4. Homeschool’s Rafa Anciano and Chan Ahn won their High-Low match 10&8, while Jakob Taruc and Halo Pangilinan secured victory in the aggregate match 2&1.
The Play Golf Interschool Match Play will continue at Valley Golf on November 16, with precision being tested in the matches scheduled for November 17 at Philippine Navy Golf Club. The elimination round will conclude at Splendido, and the Final Four matches will be held at Royal Northwoods.
