Play Golf Interschool Premier Match Play: Two Elimination Matches Left

Ateneo de Manila remains undefeated after five matches. Vilaroman Golf Academy, Homeschool Global, and De La Salle Zobel also secured victories in the Play Golf Interschool Match Play Series held at the North Course of the Valley Golf and Country Club on November 16, 2024.

Ateneo de Manila faced PAREF Schools last Saturday. The Alternate Shot and Aggregate formats were won by default, leaving players Javie Bautista, Juanton Cruz, Lujo Gomez, and Inigo Gallardo to practice their skills individually. Xandrei David and Race Manhit achieved a significant victory in their High-Low match, defeating Diego Tuason and Mattie Aquino with a score of 9&8. The pairing of Aenzo Sulaik and Andrei Cruz overcame the competition, winning 2&1 against the tough 8 & under boys, Andres Jeturian and Max Aliwalas, in the Best Ball format.

Villaroman Golf Academy secured a close win against the talented British School Manila, finishing with a score of 2.5 to 1.5. Levonne Talion and Lucas Garcia won their Alternate Shot match with an impressive 6&4 against Alexa Tan and Robyn Ng. Cousins Reese Ng and Scott Ng forced their Best Ball match against Charles Serdenia and Peyton Coyuito to finish all square. In the High-Low format, Santino Pineda and Franco Estrella triumphed over Armand Copok and Annika Santos with a score of 4&3. Kyle Ng and Chaz Limketkai won by default in the Aggregate format.

Homeschool Global faced tough competition against International School Manila. Rafa Anciano and Chan Ahn won the Alternate Shot format 2&1 against Kai Lacson and Alex Hwang. Ace Pascual was the lone winner for ISM, dominating Seth Littaua in the Best Ball format with a score of 9&8. Kami del Mundo and Halo Pangilinan came out on top in the High-Low match, defeating Alice Jeong and Gavin Go 2&1. In the Aggregate match, Keira Que and Jakob Turuc won decisively, finishing 9&7 over Aidan Garcia and Chris Yu.

De La Salle Zobel achieved a victory against their brother school, La Salle Greenhills, with a score of 3 to 1. The Alternate Shot and Aggregate formats ended in a tie. For the Alternate Shot, DLSZ was represented by Gabriel Handog and Santino Magtalas, while LSGH was represented by Monte Andaman and Basti Darjuan. In the Aggregate format, Troy Nagata and Gab Pecjo of DLSZ defeated Jaikob Catabay and Jacob Vivas. TJ Padilla had a standout performance in the Best Ball format, winning 8&7 against Basti Saycon, while Rafa Leonio and Jo Cortez secured a 1-up finish against Asher Abad and Lauro Delen in the High-Low format.

The Play Golf Interschool Match Play canceled matches on Sunday, November 17, at the Philippine Navy Golf Club due to the typhoon, prioritizing the safety of players and parents. The last two legs of the elimination round will take place at Mount Malarayat Golf Club on November 23 and Splendido Golf Club on November 24.
