Play Golf Goes to Cagayan de Oro

Play Golf, known for its highly competitive roster of golfers, will be hosting an event at the Pueblo de Oro Golf Club from November 30 to December 1. This tournament will feature a 54-hole World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event for boys and girls aged 13 and above, as well as a 36-hole event for players aged 12 and under.

A significant number of players from Luzon will be traveling to Cagayan de Oro to participate in this inaugural event in the City of Golden Friendship. It’s a great opportunity for junior golfers from Metro Manila to explore Mindanao.

The Girls 15-18 division promises to be an exciting showcase, featuring international veterans Reese Ng, Ally Gaccion, Precious Zaragosa and Celine Abalos as key competitors. In the Boys 15-18 category, notable participants include Zach Villaroman, Santino Pineda, Shinichi Suzuki, Charles Serdenia, Patrick Tambalque, Scott Ng, and Chaz Limketkai.

Additionally, local talents such as siblings Apollo and Athena Batican, along with Davao-based cousins David Teves and Blair Uyking, are set to make their mark in their respective divisions.

We are pleased that Play Golf has been given the opportunity by Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club to hold its first tournament in Mindanao at a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf course. This aligns with the organization’s mission to provide junior golfers with experiences on quality-designed courses throughout the country. Notably, Play Golf held its first junior tournament in February this year at Calatagan Golf Club and will conclude the year with the Founders Cup at the North Course of Canlubang Golf Club, both designed by Jones, according to Cyna Rodriguez.
